There are two mixed-age preschool rooms (Room B and Room C) that each house 16 children ages 31-35 months to five years old. The current child to teacher ratio is 8 to 1.
The mixed-age preschool rooms are designed to create self-directed, independent thinkers and doers in a supportive and enriching environment. Adapting the learning atmosphere to each child’s developmental level helps the children to work at their own pace, and challenges them with activities they can succeed at. Everyday the children build social, cognitive, and problem solving skills through role playing activities, books, shelf work, conversations, as well as interactions with peers and teachers, and structured play. These are crucial skills that help bridge and secure a smooth transition from preschool to kindergarten and leave the child with educational anticipation and continued optimism.
